Calling all writers—on January 10-12, 2025 join Northshire Bookstore at the luxurious Barrows House Inn in Dorset Vermont for a weekend of writing and inspiration. Give yourself the gift of time to focus on your craft in a gorgeous setting—and let Northshire and the Barrows House take care of the rest.

The weekend will feature a workshop entitled “Crafting a Writer’s Life: Setting Your Creative Intentions for 2025” given by New York Times bestselling author and long-time college writing professor, Kim Van Alkemade. In addition, there will be a publishing industry information session and q&a with Van Alkemade and Northshire’s expert staff, covering topics including traditional vs nontraditional avenues for publication, how books get into bookstores, and best practices for book events.

Your weekend will include lots of unstructured writing time in the Barrows House’s many cozy nooks and crannies. Bring your laptop or your notebook & pen, and be ready to capture your inspiration.

In addition, the opening reception and communal meals at the Barrows House and nearby Dorset Inn will be a great chance to talk shop and be in community with your fellow writers.

Your registration fee includes your accommodations for the weekend, meals, gratuities and fees, as well as your weekend tuition and your choice of two books from Northshire’s faculty work & recommended books for writers display.

Tier One accommodations will be Signature Queen or Signature King rooms. Each is a comfortably appointed guest room with a private ensuite bath. Tier One Room rates: Tier One Room Single $1,200, Tier One Room Double $975.

Tier Two accommodations will be Deluxe or Superior King rooms. These offer the comforts of the Signature rooms with additional features, such as fireplaces, soaking tubs, and/or living rooms. Tier Two Room rates: Tier Two Room Single $1,400 Tier Two Room Double $1,100.

Best-in-category rooms will be assigned first, so book early for the best selection!
