NASA’s Search for Life Beyond the Earth
Tuesday, January 23 from 4:00 – 5:30 pm at the Manchester Community Library
Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) is delighted to welcome back Dr. John Delano to talk about NASA’s search for life beyond Earth. In addition to NASA’s sophisticated rovers, Perseverance and Curiosity, that are currently exploring the surface of Mars to understand the ancient environments that may have supported ancient Martian life, NASA has identified and obtained measurements on more than 5,000 planets that orbit other stars in our Milky Way galaxy. The variety of planets is astonishing! The data provides constraints on the likelihood of those planets having life-as-we-know-it. NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has the capability of determining which, if any, of these planets actually have life now. This talk will also be available online via Zoom. Registration is $22 per person. For more information or to register, please call our office at 802-867-0111 or visit www.greenmtnacademy.org.
