The Art of Bees
Tuesday, March 16 from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm via Zoom
Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes curator and writer Doreen Schmid to talk about the art of bees. Bees are a boon to mankind, pollinating over 80 percent of U.S. grown crops. They have been metamorphosed into mythology, are an admired model of efficiency and collective harmony, and are ubiquitous in our vernacular communication (“busy as a bee,” “sweet as honey”). They have also long been a source of fascination and inspiration for artists working with bee by-products (honey, comb, pollen and propolis) in a variety of media. Join us for an exploration of bee art, ranging from the classical to the contemporary. Registration for the talk is $15 per person in advance. For more information or to register, please call 802-867-0111 or visit our website at greenmtnacademy.org.
