Snapshots in Time: Iconic Photographs and the Great Photographers That Made Them
Friday, November 20th, from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm via Zoom
Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes writer and photographer Christopher Dant to talk about iconic photographs and the photographers that made them. In the past 100 years, certain photographic images have triggered such powerful emotional responses to alter the course of history. At the climax of their fame, such photographers awed, inspired, and motivated lawmakers and governments, and documented some of the most powerful moments in our history. In this talk, we will view famous and iconic photographs made over the past century from the photographers that made them – Alfred Stieglitz, Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lang, Yousuf Karsh, Richard Avedon, Annie Liebovitz, and other greats who changed photography as an artform. Come hear the stories of how these recognizable photographs were created and how some started movements, many of which endure today. Registration for the talk is $15 per person in advance.
