Portraiture: An Artist’s Journey
Tuesday, June 21 from 5:30 – 7:00pm at Manchester Community Library
Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning (GMALL) welcomes portrait and fine artist Kim Beaty to talk about her portraits and her journey as an artist. Have you ever been mesmerized by a portrait in a gallery or museum and wondered how the artist painted it? Have you wondered what it would be like to have your portrait painted or one of someone else? Have you been curious what the view is like from the other side of the easel? In this lecture, Kim Beaty will take us on an informative and entertaining retrospective journey in slides, regaling us with tales of her most interesting and amusing adventures as a portrait artist. She will share her experience creating the official portraits of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and of Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont, and her portrayal of the fabulous teacup Yorkie, Fosca. Registration for the talk is $18 per person in advance, or $22 per person at the door. For more information or to register, please call 802-867-0111 or visit our website at greenmtnacademy.org.
