Dorset offers well-maintained hiking trails, mountain biking trails that wind through woods and backcountry settings, a pristine quarry for swimming and nearby Merck Forest & Farmland Center. Summer’s emerald hues defer to brilliant white when winter blankets the region. Don’t let its small size fool you. There are tons of things to do in Dorset during the winter from snowshoeing, nordic skiing, sledding and hiking, to fat biking and ice fishing –  options are everywhere! 

Hike Dorset details the variety of amazing hiking trails and “loops” to get some exercise and crisp fresh air. An outdoor enthusiasts dream, Dorset is home to thousands of acres of public and conserved lands that allow for hiking, biking, skiing, horseback riding, the list goes on. the Town of Dorset acquired over 560 acres to expand Owls Head Town Forest. The main trail follows an old road up to Gettysburg and Klondike quarries and beyond to Owls Head and Gilbert Lookout.
